HUCK FINN'S COMMENTS: Oh, my God. I can’t take it anymore. When media gets on the band wagon, they’re relentless. I could see it coming. It started last week.

They have begun to use the "R" word… Yes, we're talking about a possible recession. Even Greenspan announced we have a 50% chance of a recession.

they’re always looking into a rear view mirror. Once an Armani-wearing Poindexter says we’re in recession, the media will go into a frenzy. Until then, we're living in the world of “possibility.”

But who's going to have the courage to use the "R" word? Will it be Obama, McCain, Hillary, Romney or one of the others? I don't hear anyone doing it yet. Well, okay then. I guess, I'll have to do it.

I, Huck Finn, of sound mind and body, do boldly announce that America is in RECESSION.

I had to do it. Who's else is going to do it. Nobody. I can see why. If you’re working on Wall Street, you’re going to be a little out of touch. You live in a huge house in the Hamptons, drive a BMW, drink fine wine and go to the theater. If you’re a blue collar worker, you live in an apartment, drive an old Chevy, drink Budweiser and go to park for entertainment.

The pulse of the economy is where the little people are. And the little people are struggling right now. I see it all around me. There are many reasons (see my previous blogs), but obviously one of the biggest reasons is the high price of oil.

To put it bluntly, the high price of oil is going to create more problems for us than the sub prime market fiasco.  Folks, we've just begun.

The plan for Congress to give tax breaks to families so they can get $800 to $1,600, so that they can spend it on crap imported from China is bull sh*%. The only way out of this mess is to spendvest (invest + spend) on activities that matter. We need to transform our economy to green economy.

We will need to spendvest at least $1 trillion dollars over the next five years to get us out of this mess. That’s $200 billion per year. This is what the cost of the Iraq war is going to be. The money would be spent to create jobs for America in America. Kind of like what Saudi Arabia's doing for themselves (see PutinToon 22 - Where Your Dollars go from Gas Pump) but on a much bigger scale than Saudi Arabia. 

Give me $1 trillion and I’ll show you a new Amerika. Surely, I can spendvest better than our Congress.

What would Putin do? How would he get us out of the recession? Is Russia going to be affected by America's recession?
