WE SHOULD TREAT OUR
ELDERLY BETTER political election humor
The American culture doesn’t support the elderly like many
other cultures. In European or Asia, the family is responsible
for to taking care of their elders. Many Americans put their aging parents into
“Nursing” or “Old Folks” homes.
Perhaps it’s because of our obsession with youth and lack of
respect for the elderly. Now, don’t get me wrong, some elders want to live
alone but others need family help.
With so much money in America,
I’m amazed at the amount of poverty we have. From what I’ve heard recently,
there are 37 million Americans living in poverty. A good portion of them are
elderly and children.
This country was made great by the older generations. We owe
it to them to take care of them. They should be a priority. My parents are seventy-five and still work every day
because the social security is an absolute joke. Their income from social
security doesn’t even come close to covering their expenses.
AMERICA SHOULD TAKE CARE OF AMERICANS FIRST – ESPECIALLY THE ELDERLY
The amount of money we give to other countries while our older
people starve pisses me off! Don’t even get me started on health insurance and
the confusing Medicaid “improvements” of last year (that’s another article on
this site).
Why do we give billions of dollars for international aid to
other countries when we can’t even take care of our own elderly, poor, homeless
or even our children?
Vote for the candidate that favors the elderly. You’ll
be old someday, too.
Over the next 25 years, the number of
Americans age 65 and up is expected to nearly double. The work population will
shrink and more and more baby boomers will be drawing Social Security and
Medicare benefits, putting new demands on the government's resources.
Great societies reveal themselves in how they treat their
old people. It breaks my heart when I see older people suffer because half of
their social security goes to pay the medical bills. Remember. The old
generations is who made America great.
